(Editor’s Note: Elmore DeMott is a Fine Art and Portrait Photographer in Montgomery. Her photographs of hands caught our attention several months ago, and she has graciously allowed Prime to publish several, along with excerpts from her website and blog. The November issue, with Thanksgiving closing out the month, seemed an appropriate time. All images courtesy of, and copyrighted by, Elmore DeMott, Elmore DeMott Photography. Elmore can be contacted at elmore@elmoredemott.com, through her website (www.elmoredemott.com), her blog (http://blog.elmoredemott.com/), and on Face Book (facebook.com/ElmoreDeMottPhotography).

“During my first photography class in college I recall taking photos of my mother’s hands holding my brother’s hands when he was about 13 years old. I won’t do the math to calculate my mother’s age because that would be telling on myself since my youngest turns 13 this year.  At the time, she commented on the wrinkles in her hands, yet I found them to be beautiful, and now I see that my hands look exactly as hers once did.”

“God has given us two hands, one to receive with and the other to give with.” – Billy Graham

“As a photographer I find myself defining the world in terms of light, shadows, and patterns. Capturing beautiful colors, fascinating shapes, and unique textures and facial expressions with a camera is both a challenge and a delight, especially when uncommon perspectives create striking images and lasting impressions.”

“If you ever need a helping hand you’ll find one at the end of your arm.”
–Yiddish Proverb
